Product description of Heviran Comfort Max:

Heviran Comfort Max is an antiviral drug indicated to prevent the recurrence of herpes simplex. The active substance of the medicinal product is acyclovir, which inhibits the multiplication of human-pathogenic viruses from the Herpes group . Each tablet contains 400 mg of acyclovir ( Aciclovirum ).

Herpes simplex viruses, HSV ( herpes simplex virus , HHV-1 and HHV-2, human herpesvirus) are enveloped DNA viruses belonging to the herpesvirus family. The natural host of HSV is humans, who are also the only source of infection, both in the presence of herpes eruptions and in the case of asymptomatic infection.

The herpes simplex virus most often spreads through direct contact and can survive in the nerve cells of the infected organism (so-called virus latency). The virus is activated under the influence of external factors (stress, cold, menstruation, body weakness, etc.), less often spontaneously. Herpes virus infection is mainly manifested by inflammatory lesions on the border of the skin and mucous membrane (around the lips and genitals), and, less frequently, by inflammation of the conjunctiva, cornea, skin or herpes encephalitis.

Heviran Comfort Max 400 mg can only be used in patients who have been diagnosed with herpes simplex virus infection in the past. The preparation is used to prevent recurrence of herpes simplex in adults with normal immunity.

Indications

Prevention of recurrence of herpes simplex virus on the lips and face.

Action

Antiviral.

Dosage

How to use Heviran Comfort Max tablets - prevention of herpes recurrence

Adults: 1 tablet (400 mg) twice daily, every 12 hours.
The tablets should be swallowed with some water.
It is recommended to drink plenty of fluids while taking the drug to avoid the risk of kidney damage and reduce the likelihood of side effects.

Without consulting a doctor, the drug can be used for a maximum of 1 month, especially during exposure to factors causing herpes recurrences (e.g. increased exposure to sunlight, stress, fever). If you do not feel better or if you feel worse after 1 month, please see your doctor.

Contraindications

Allergy to acyclovir, valacyclovir or any of the other ingredients of Heviran ^® Comfort Max 400 mg.
The drug should not be used by people with reduced immunity (e.g. after a bone marrow transplant, infected with HIV); Immunocompromised people should consult a doctor for treatment of any infection.
The medicine should not be used in children and adolescents under 18 years of age
Interactions
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any other medicines, especially:
- probenecid – a drug used in gout,
- cimetidine – a drug used mainly in gastric and duodenal ulcers,
- mycophenolate mofetil – a drug used after organ transplants,
- theophylline – a drug used to treat asthma and other respiratory diseases.
- Warnings and precautions
  - Do not use Heviran Comfort MAX without first consulting your doctor:
    
    in patients with renal impairment,
    
    in patients who are taking other medications that may damage the kidneys,
    
    in elderly patients (65 years of age or older),
    
    in pregnant or breastfeeding women,
    
    in patients with particularly severe recurrent cold sores,
    
    in patients with particularly severe recurrent external genital herpes,
    
    if you notice frequent (over 6 a year) and longer-lasting (no positive treatment effects after 5 days of therapy) recurrences of herpes than before, with more severe clinical symptoms (e.g. when new foci of infection appear after 3-4 days of therapy) ); this may indicate immunodeficiency or absorption disorders requiring diagnosis and the need for a different drug dosage.
  - Patients who develop herpes while taking Heviran ^® Comfort Max prophylactically should consult a doctor.
  - You should drink plenty of fluids while taking this medicine to avoid kidney damage.
  - This medicine contains less than 1 mmol (23 mg) sodium per tablet, i.e. essentially 'sodium-free'.
  Pregnancy and breastfeeding
  - If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine.
  - Avoid using the drug during pregnancy. The drug may be used during pregnancy only if, in the opinion of the doctor, the expected benefit to the mother outweighs the risk to the fetus.
  - Acyclovir passes into breast milk - due to the risk of side effects in a breast-fed child, after consulting a doctor, a decision should be made whether not to take the drug or to stop breastfeeding while taking the drug.
